Company Overview

Ciranova™ is an Electronic Design Automation (EDA) startup company, focused on building the first open, interoperable tools for custom chip designers to create new and/or migrate legacy analog IP. While IP interoperability and migration have progressed rapidly in the digital domain, analog design has lagged behind, due in part to the lack of a universal PCell mechanism. This has made interoperability between multiple vendors' tools and re-targeting IP to new process nodes difficult, and slowed overall development cycles. Ciranova is leveraging the promise of the industry-standard OpenAccess database and the object-oriented power of the Python programming language to make PCell interoperability a reality.

Ciranova's technology will bring the productivity and migration benefits of modern language-based design to AMS designers. Ciranova's first product, PyCell Studio™, helps designers reduce the time and cost of PCell and layout generator creation for deep submicron processes. Ciranova's second product, PCell Xtreme™, enables the migration of PCells created in proprietary languages into multi-vendor OpenAccess flows. Future products will build on these technologies to help speed the creation of AMS circuits and develop re-usable analog designs.

Expertise

Ciranova's management team and Board of Directors is comprised of seasoned executives who all have more than 20 years of experience in EDA, semiconductor and related industry segments. Our engineers bring to the table many years of deep experience in analog design and the development of physical design layout tools and languages. Several of them were early employees at successful start-up companies, such as Cadence Design Systems and Artisan Components.

Universal OpenAccess PCells, created using Ciranova's PyCell Studio software. PyCells are authored using the popular Python programming language, hence the name.

XPyros Layout Viewer
A component of Ciranova's PyCell Studio software. The Pyros Layout Viewer can open any OpenAccess block, select layout objects for examination, and manipulate PyCell parameters. Pyros also includes a built-in design rule checker that allows users to check the layout interactively.
