PyCell Mechanics

Ciranova™ has provided PyCell Studio™, a complete solution for creating OpenAccess PCells, as a free download to the OpenAccess community. PyCells™ are universal OpenAccess PCells because they can be used with any OpenAccess tool, with full parameterization.

PyCell Authoring

Authors use PyCell Studio to create their PyCell code. The Ciranova Layout API handles all the complexities of the OpenAccess PCell infrastructure, so that OpenAccess libraries can be used to store and retrieve PCell designs. Ciranova supplies additional utility programs that can help create and deploy libraries when a set of PyCells is completed.

PyCell Instantiation

PyCells integrate seamlessly into OpenAccess-based tools. In OpenAccess versions of Virtuoso™, designers instantiate PyCells using the same user interface used for legacy PCells. Other OpenAccess tools each offer their own user interface for instantiation. Under the hood, a lightweight plug-in, implemented as an OpenAccess component, opens and instantiates PyCells from PyCell libraries in any OpenAccess based tool.

XPyros Layout Viewer
A component of Ciranova's PyCell Studio software. The Pyros Layout Viewer can open any OpenAccess block, select layout objects for examination, and manipulate PyCell parameters. Pyros also includes a built-in design rule checker that allows users to check the layout interactively.
